Mapei Ultracolor Plus FA is a premium, high-performance, cement-based grout with a special formula that provides exceptional stain resistance, water repellency, and durability. Here are the mixing instructions for Mapei Ultracolor Plus FA:
Preparation
- Clean the Tile: Before grouting, ensure the tile surfaces are clean and free of debris, dirt, and residues.
- Mixing Container: Use a clean bucket or mixing container that's big enough for the amount of grout you'll be using.
- Water: Use clean, potable water for mixing.
Mixing
- Add Water: Add approximately 6.5 - 7.5% water to the container, based on the weight of the grout.
- Add Grout: Slowly add the Mapei Ultracolor Plus FA grout powder to the water while stirring with a low-speed drill mixer or a heavy-duty paddle.
- Mix Thoroughly: Mix the grout for at least 3 minutes, ensuring that all the powder is fully incorporated and there are no lumps or dry areas.
- Rest: Allow the mixture to sit for about 5 minutes before re-mixing for another 30 seconds.
Application
- Consistency: The grout mixture should have a smooth, creamy consistency, similar to yogurt or peanut butter.
- Apply: Use a rubber trowel or grout float to apply the grout to the joints, working it into the gaps between the tiles.
- Remove Excess: Remove excess grout from the tile surfaces immediately using a damp sponge.
- Clean: Once the grout has begun to set (usually within 10-15 minutes), clean the tiles again using a clean damp sponge and water.
Important Notes
- Temperature: The ideal application temperature for Mapei Ultracolor Plus FA is between 50°F and 90°F.
- Time: The grout will start to harden within 20-30 minutes. Make sure to remove excess grout and clean the tiles before it sets.
- Safety: Wear appropriate safety gear, including gloves, eye protection, and a respirator mask, when mixing and applying grout.
Troubleshooting
- Too Thick: If the grout is too thick, add a small amount of water and mix thoroughly.
